We believe the very best start in early childhood comes when a child feels safe, accepted, and genuinely valued. At The Preschool at DUMC, our entire program is built around the development of the whole child — nurturing intellectual curiosity, social confidence, emotional resilience, and physical vitality in equal measure.
You are your child's first and most important teacher. Our role is to step into that partnership thoughtfully, earning your family's trust by keeping you close to your child's growth every step of the way. Consistent, open communication between parents and staff isn't a feature — it's how we operate.
Our written, age-appropriate curriculum weaves together literature, language, science, and foundational math through seasonal themes and special units that spark genuine wonder. Each session is designed so children can explore, question, and make meaning — not simply absorb information.
Every child needs to feel successful. That's why we challenge without frustrating, and celebrate progress that's personal. Through creative play, art, music, and rich group conversation, children practice expressing themselves and begin to understand the world beyond their own experience.

Most of our teachers have been with the school for ten or more years. That longevity isn't a statistic — it's a foundation families can count on. All staff hold criminal background clearances through the PA State Police and the Methodist Church, and every team member is trained in both pediatric and adult CPR and first aid.
